DC Srinagar reviews implementation of directions of LG to resolve public matters

DM asks concerned agencies for compliance within 10 days

Srinagar : The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Thursday chaired a meeting of Officers of the line Departments in the Meeting hall of the DC Office Complex, here to review the implementation of the directions of the Lieutenant Governor issued in the meeting held on May 22 regarding resolving public grievances and matters on priority.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed all directions point-wise and directed the concerned officers and executing agencies to expedite the assigned works so that the targets fixed by the Lieutenant Governor are accomplished well in time.
The DC took a detailed review of present status and the progress of works on laying the Sewerage pipes being done by UEED at Dr Ali Jan road towards Wanganpora.
He also took the appraisal from R&B Department regarding the repairs of road coming under the Sewerage project. He took stock of the sanitation and cleanliness measures being carried out by the SMC in the City parts.
At the outset, the DC was informed by the Executive Engineer UEED that they are done with the major portion of the work on the road including putting in place the Sewerage pipes down at least 13-19 feet which has been done and that there are now just minor works that need to be carried out and shall be done soon and the road will be repaired and restoration immediately in a traffic worthy condition.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC directed the officers and concerned executing agencies to work in coordinated manner and speed up the pace of works on the projects without any further delay for the larger public interest.
The DC set a deadline of June 2, 2022 for finishing balance works of the Sewerage project and making the road fully operational for vehicular movement so that people of local habitations are benefitted. He also directed NBCC authorities to ensure in-fall and outfall stations are made fully operational before the set deadline.
The DC said that these projects are of immense public importance and are being strictly monitored by higher authorities for the earliest completion. He said timely completion of these projects will prove helpful in better drainage system, besides towards overcoming traffic jams and improving road connectivity to ensure smooth plying of traffic on the Dr Ali Jan road connecting SKIMS and SMHS hospitals of the valley.
With regard to ensuring proper sanitation in the City, the DC directed the Chief Sanitation Officer, SMC to undertake massive sanitation and cleanliness drives across the City particularly in Batamaloo, Khanyar and HabbaKadal areas to ensure a clean and hygienic atmosphere in the District.
The meeting was among others, attended by Superintendent Engineer, R&B, Joint Director Planning, Srinagar, Executive Engineer UEED, Chief Sanitation Officer, SMC, besides officers of NBCC and PMGSY.
