DC B’pora listens public grievances; calls for early redress of public issues

B’pora : With an aim of strengthening governance at the grassroots level and enhancing participatory development, special public grievance redressal camps under Block Diwas initiative were held across Bandipora district on Wednesday to get the first hand appraisal of the issues faced by the public.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr.Owais Ahmad attended the Block Diwas at Arin block and gave patient hearing to all issues put forth and took on spot decisions for speedy redressal.
The Diwas at Arin witnessed huge participation of locals who were enthusiastic about presenting the issues of the area before the District administration.
In his welcome address, BDO Arin apprised the chair that under 14th FC Arin Block made expenditure of 5.6 crores out of 7.85 crores. He informed that 08 works of CD Panchayats have been completed out of 10 works.
The DC gave patient hearing to all the issues raised and assured the public that all grievances will be taken up on priority.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said under Area Development Fund plan submitted by PRIs 4.5 cr has been allocated for Arin Block with priority on education and health sector. He urged people to remain aware of works and approved plans for fruitful execution of works besides work as a community for overall development and successful execution of plans.
While interacting with the public, the DC assured them that all pending works will be completed within minimum possible time and enquiry committee is to be set up for ascertaining the basics of delay in execution of various projects and half way works left.
He said no compromise will be there with lackadaisical approach exhibited by any department with regard to the developmental works.
Meanwhile contractors were directed to work in consonance with the set guidelines for the execution of e-tendered projects.
He directed controlling officers to initiate legal action against contractors who violate the terms and conditions of the tenders and approved plans.
He stressed upon the officers to ensure efficient utilization of Govt exchequer and adopt zero tolerance towards corruption.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC Member Block Arin, Gh. Mohiudin apprised the chair regarding various issues of public importance including electricity, PMAY, issues related to PMGSY and macadamization of inner links.
He thanked the district administration for bringing surrinder on the tourism map and also demanded to bring more places like Maawa and Sheerasar on the same map. He also lauded efforts of the administration for designating Kudara and adjacent areas as tribal model villages.
Meanwhile DC also visited the under-constructionPanchayat at CA Khan and took first hand appraisal of the ongoing works. Executing agency was directed to ensure the completion of the project within the stipulated time frame.
The Block Diwas at Arin was attended by ADDC Bandipora, ACD Bandipora, and Joint Director Planning besides other senior officers of the district.
Block Diwas was also organised at Sub Division Gurez where TehsildarGurez listened to public issues and grievances for the elimination of bottlenecks in the execution of development works.
