2 drug peddlers held in Kulgam, psychotropic substances recovered: Police

K’gam| : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and also recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said that a Police Party led by SHO Police Station Kulgam under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Kulgam during Naka checking at Srandoo crossing intercepted three persons riding a Scooty bearing registration number JK03H-6702 and upon checking 29 bottles of liquor (Rum) and 20 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from their possession.
Sating that the accused have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar son of Nazir Ahmad Dar resident of Bogund and Gulzar Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Qadir Dar resident of Naibasti Anantnag, police in it’s statement further said that the said accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
“One drug peddler Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rashid Dar resident of Bogund managed to flee from the spot”, said police in it’s above quoted statement, adding that “a case vide FIR No. 63/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been initiated”. Police in it’s statement furthermore said that the efforts are on to nab the absconded drug peddler.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
