Police holds awareness prog on drug abuse and its ill effects

B’gam: Police in Budgam organised an awareness programme on drug abuse and its ill effects at Boys Higher Secondary School Budgam.
According to a police statement, SSP Budgam Shri Tahir Saleem presided over the event as the Chief Guest.
The program was attended by Incharge Principal Boys Higher Secondary School Budgam Syed Zubair, Ms Insha Hasan Incharge drug de-addiction and stress management centre DPL Budgam, staff members of the school. Besides, 650 students also participated in the event.
On the occasion, SSP Budgam sensitized the students about the ill effects of drug abuse and advised them to be part of social awakening process regarding drug abuse. He highlighted the importance of drug free society and ill effects of this menace on youth and society at large. SSP advised teachers and parents to keep a watch on the activities and behaviour of students and be conscious towards them.
Besides other speakers, Miss Insha Incharge drug de-addiction centre DPL Budgam also spoke on the occasion. She highlighted the role of school management in identification of substance abusers and their role in remedial measures thereof. Thrust was also given to the psychological and social aspects of addiction. The in-charge Principal of the school Syed Zubair also spoke about the ill effects of drugs on overall development of an individual and society. Various students also spoke about the menace of drugs on the occasion.
Later, SSP Budgam administered the pledge among the participants to never indulge in any kind of substance abuse.
