DDC Bla reviews functioning of RDD, SWD, ICDS, DYSS

B’la: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar Monday conveyed a meeting of concerned officers at Dak Bungalow here to take a comprehensive and sector wise review of the progress achieved by various departments including RDD, Social Welfare Department, ICDS and District Youth Serves and Sports (DYSS) under various centrally sponsored schemes.
At the outset, the DDC was apprised with regard to the progress made by the Social Welfare Department in Baramulla district. The chair was briefed about the status of central and UT schemes including NSAP, ISSS, NFBS, SMAS, PMAGY and others.
After taking a review, the District Development Commissioner asked the concerned officer from the Social Welfare Department to ensure submission of Monthly reports of Child Care Institutions and apprise the DC office about the status on a regular basis.
The DDC on the occasion said that although most of the achievements made under different schemes including Pensions, scholarships and schemes related to specially abled persons are saturated, the more focus should be on remaining indicators.
The DDC further asked to verify the genuineness of the pension beneficiaries in the district and apprise her about the status.
Dr Sehrish also called upon DSWO to work out modalities to bring the inmates of NariNiketan within the ambit of SHGs and impart them necessary vocational training and skills so that they can secure their livelihood. She also called for convergence and inter-departmental coordination to explore income generating avenues for skilled women to make them independent and self-reliant.
Furthermore, it was impressed upon the concerned to make One Stop Centre more vibrant in the district to trace the women facing domestic violence and accordingly would be benefited under the scheme.
The PO, ICDS gave details about the activities undertaken under various schemes like Supplementary Nutrition, Health Checkups, Pradhan MantriMatritvaVandanaYojana (PMMVY), PoshanAbhiyan Scheme for Adolescent Girls.
The DDC exhorted upon the officers to ensure effective implementation of all schemes in a focused and concerted way so that the desired objectives are achieved at the grassroots level.
She also reviewed the progress of works being executed by the Rural Development Department. The meeting reviewed the estimation, tendering and allotment status of all works including DDC/ BDC/PRI grants.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that district administration is committed to ensure all developmental projects/ works are completed within a set timeline. She stressed on the concerned officers to take all possible measures to accelerate the pace of the ongoing works for their timely completion and directed the concerned to clear all the liabilities till date.
While taking a review of the progress of the District Youth Services and Sports Department, the concerned officer appraised the DDC regarding the overall sports scenario in the district and achievements of Youth Services and Sports in conducting the sports activities across the district.
On the occasion, the DDC directed the District Youth Services and Sports officer to prepare a schedule for organizing sports activities for specially-abled children with an aim to promote, develop and encourage competitive sports, athletics and cultural activities in a professional manner in them.
It was also impressed to frame regular sports activities and engage more and more youth in sports activities by organizing daily tournaments.
Additional District Development Commissioner Aijaz Abdullah Saraf, Joint Director Planning M Yosuf Rather, Assistant Commissioner Development Yaar Ali Khan, District Panchayat Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, District Youth Service and Sports Officer besides Block Development Officers, CDPOs and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
