B’la : Police on Friday said that it has arrested an RDD employee and recovered heroin worth crores in Baramulla.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that acting on specific information regarding smuggling of drugs, Police at a checkpoint established at PVCP-2 (Galla) Uri intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01AK-2765 driven by Mohammad Zaid Shah Geelani son of Syed Hasaan Din Shah resident of Basgran Uri (a govt employee working in RDD), stating therein further that during checking, 10 Kgs of Heroin worth around 20 crores was recovered from his possession following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 54/2022 under relevant section of law has been registered in Police Station Uri and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
