B’la|: The District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson Baramulla, Safeena Beigh accompanied by several functionaries Friday toured the upper belt of Baramulla district where she carried out several developmental activities meant for the welfare of the area.
The Chairperson laid the foundation stone for up-gradation/strengthening of KohlinaBandibala road that shall be completed at an estimated cost of ₹ 435.18 lacs and is likely to be completed in three years.
After laying the foundation stone, SafeenaBeigh said that the project was a long pending and a persistent demand of the people adding that it will improve the connectivity in the region. She said that the road will also help in overall development of the region besides creating different livelihood opportunities at the local level.
The Chairperson also met several public delegations who appraised their grievances and developmental aspirations. SafeenaBeigh gave a patient hearing and assured that all the highlighted issues shall be taken with the concerned authorities for their timely redressal.
Earlier, the DDC Chairperson paid visit to ITI Baramulla in order to get the appraisal of skill development and vocational courses being provided to the girls of adjoining rural areas. She interacted with the students during which she was informed that training in cutting/tailoring, handicrafts, food processing etc is being provided to them so that can live independently live their livelihoods.
The Chairperson applauded the students and stressed upon the Institute authorities to ensure that modern and demand-driven training is provided so that they can properly equip themselves and are upskilled for meeting out the market requirements. She urged upon the youth to come forward and get the necessary skills education for earning their sustainable livelihoods.
