DC Srinagar inaugurates Fashion Designing & Technology courses for Up-Skilling of SHGs at ITI, Bagh-i-Dilawar Khan

Srinagar : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Thursday inaugurated short term programmes in Fashion Designing & Technology and Dress Making courses for up-skilling of Women Self Help Groups(SHGs) of Srinagar at Government Industrial Institute (ITI), Bagh-i-Dilawar Khan, here.
The DC also inspected various sections of the ITI and took a detailed first-hand appraisal of the technical courses being offered to students.
While inaugurating the Fashion Designing and dressmaking courses, the DC held interaction with the students and faculty members of the Institute. He said that the scope for ITI trained students is growing rapidly and faculty should help students to know about emerging developments in the industry.
He urged upon the enrolled youth to make best use of available resources during the training period adding that measures are in place to boost entrepreneurship in the district.
The DC said that optimal adoption of technological innovations is pivotal to enable the pass outs to compete in the present fast-growing industrial world. He stressed on introducing such trades in the ITI Srinagar that make the students self-sufficient by way of self-employment. He said Number of schemes have been launched by the Government for handholding of the educated /skilled youth.
The DC said that technical Education has a pivotal role in providing skill development training to students to make them able to earn livelihood with dignity and honour.
Aijaz Asad also inspected various Departments of the ITI including Automobile Workshops and participated in live demonstration of practical class.
The DC directed for conducting a joint awareness cum counselling workshop by District Employment & Counselling Centre, Srinagar and Lead Bank in the ITI premises for the students to sensitize about the market trends and government schemes for handholding of the pass outs.
The DC also directed the Revenue authorities to speed up the process of allotment of additional land to the ITI, Srinagar which is adjacent to it.
Principal ITI, Srinagar, AnisaParvez, Tehsildar South Srinagar, MaeenAzharKakro, District Programme officer, National Urban Livelihood Mission, Zahoor Ahmad and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
