Pulwama : A Model Career Centre (MCC), set up by the Government to help unemployed persons to connect with potential employers was Friday inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, BaseerUlHaqChoudhary in presence of Director Employment Jammu & Kashmir, Nisar Ahmad Wani.
The MCC has been formed as part of the innovative initiative of Prime Minister to connect job aspirants to employment opportunities. The National Employment Service was transformed into the National Career Service.
Speaking at the event, the DC said that the main purpose of the establishment of the MCCs is to counsel and guide the workforce into more productive and meaningful economic activities, to pursue meaningful careers and connect the youth with job opportunities in a transparent and effective manner through the use of technology as well as through counselling and training.
He said the MCC scheme was adopted in J&K with a clear purpose of connecting local youth and other job aspirants with possible job opportunities. It extends counselling facilities to young aspirants to choose jobs best suited to their ability and aptitude, through counselling and training. Choudhary said MCC is all set to transform the destiny of J&K by facilitating job aspirants to an unhindered view of employment possibilities. More importantly, the Centre will offer counselling and skill training and development to enhance employability, he added.
Addressing the gathering, the Director Employment said that 100 career service centres are to be launched across the country to provide job seekers with all employment-related information ranging from career counselling to apprenticeship and jobs on offer. He added that creation of jobs is a key focus of the Centre as well as of J&K government.
The endeavour of the Government is to bridge the gap between employer and unemployed youth, he said adding that the MCC under NCS would provide a State database of all unemployed youth. With the active co-operation of the Industry, the MCC would bring in the desired employability amongst the Youth and create a win-win situation for both unemployed youth and the employer, Wani said.
The Directorate General of Employment & Training, Government of India, has launched a unified Portal for registration of the unemployed youth under National Career Services (NCS) which shall act as an effective link between the unemployed youth and the employers throughout the nation, the Director Employment said.
Later during the distribution ceremony at District Employment and Counseling Centre (DE&CC) Pulwama, the dignitaries handed over keys of 14 small commercial vehicles to the beneficiaries to facilitate un-employed youth to establish a sustainable livelihood in the transport sector under Mumkin scheme of Mission Youth programme.
The dignitaries also interacted with the beneficiaries of TEJASWINI Scheme who are undergoing 10 Day training programme organised by Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner.
