DDC Shopian chairs Block Diwas at Gagren

Shopian : As part of weekly Block Diwas initiative of government, a Public Outreach Programme was Wednesday presided over by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya within the premises of BDO office, Gagren here.
S.P Shopian, Tanushree; DDC member, Raja Waheed; DIO, DSWO, SHO, Tehsildar, Shopian, BDO Shopian, EO MC Shopian and other concerned district officers and officials, besides a large number of people attended the programme.
The programme witnessed participation of scores of individuals and prominent civil society members projecting demands and apprising the DDC about the problems faced by the inhabitants of their respective areas.
The people submitted variety of demands highlighting issues and their resolution including construction/ macadamization of roads, better and more frequent drinking water supply, removal of encroachments, sanctioning of PMEGP cases, development of public parks, curbing on drug menace in the district, construction of drains and lanes in Gagren, macadamization of Sumo stand, construction of washroom near Sumo stand, provision of ambulance for health centre, Check Saidapora and provision of other amenities.
After listening patiently to the demands of people, DDC passed on spot instructions to the concerned departments for early execution of these works demanded by the public during the Public Diwas.
DDC speaking on the event said the government under its ambitious programme of JalJeevan will ensure provision of better and regular water supply in the district by way of execution of 36 filtration plants. He also appealed to the public to approach SP Shopian for any police related issues especially youth engagement and taking measures to curb drug menace, and said people will always find District Administration responsive towards the public issues.
