DDC Kupwara reviews power scenario, Cautions engineers of any lapse in achieving target

Kupwara : The District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir Wednesday directed PDD Engineers to accelerate the execution of all on-going works and ensure completion within the stipulated time frame so that power supply in Kupwara district could be further improved.
The DDC was reviewing the progress of power sector in the district, here at a meeting of Engineers of Power Development Department.
The SE KPDCL, SE Projects along with all Executive Engineers and other concerned Engineers were present in the meeting.
The DDC reviewed project wise and scheme wise progress of all power projects, receiving stations and distribution system one by one and received present status and feedback from the concerned engineers. He directed them to work with promptness and dedication and maintain timeline for completion of projects and other schemes.
The DDC was informed that 3 receiving stations are in progress at Keran, Machill and Teetwal under DDUGJY to upgrade power scenario in the border and hilly areas of the district. He was informed that Receiving Station Keran is coming up at Rs.540 lakh on which Rs.214.72 lakh have been expended so far. While as, Receiving Station Machill costing Rs.637 lakh has an expenditure of Rs.259 lakh as on date. Likewise, Teetwal Receiving Station which costs Rs.269 lakh has incurred Rs.124.80 lakh so far.
Regarding physical status of these receving stations, the DDC was informed that all the three stations are completed and charged.
The DDC was also informed that construction of 33/11KV, 1×6.3 MVA Receiving Station at Pohrupeth has expenditure of Rs.342 lakh out of its approved cost of Rs.380 lakh. The Receiving station stands completed and charged, the DDC was informed.
Reviewing the progress under the scheme PMDP of STD Sopore, augmentation of Receiving Station Sogam, Chogul, Ganapora, Khumriyal, Kralpora, Krusan have been completed and stands charged. He was further informed that construction of Armpora- Khumriyal 33 KV Line is also in progress.
Reviewing the power scenario of border area Karnah, the DDC was informed that a 12 MW Hydro Electric Power Project is progressing at an estimated cost of Rs.96.96 crore. The DDC got work wise status from the concerned engineers and was informed that planning, design and engineering of the project has been completed up to 75 percent, while as power house excavation works have been completed upto 90 percent.
Addressing meeting, the DDC cautioned the engineers of any lapse in fulfilling the given targets. He asked them that Kupwara is a farflung, hilly and border district and experience heavy snowfall during winters and added that because of this, there is a limited working season in hand to complete the targets. He directed them to work with zeal and added dedication and ensure completion of all on-going works within the stipulated timeframe so that the benefits of the schemes for which it has made, percolate down to the general public.
