Horticulture Deptt conducts auction of Fruit crop

Jammu: The Department of Horticulture Jammu on Tuesday conducted an auction of Fruit crop/Pruned wood for all departmental nurseries and revenue orchards of Jammu Division here at the Horticulture Complex, TalabTillo.
The auction was held under the chairmanship of Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savakand in presence of Joint Director Horticulture Jammu, Committee Members and Chief Horticulture Officers.
A large number of bidders from all the districts of Jammu division participated in the bidding process for auction of departmental fruit plant nurseries, including revenue orchards.
Revenue of Rs 7 lakh was generated during the initial round of auction proceedingsand it was still going on. Further, it was decided that the auction of left over nurseries/ revenue orchards shall be conducted on the spot by the Chief Horticulture officers in their respective districts.
Later, the Director Horticulture chaired the meeting of the Chief Horticulture Officers to review the progress of developmental activities going on in their respective districts. He impressed upon all the officers to organize awareness camps, Kissangoshtis, etc. to ensure better implementation of departmental schemes for the ultimate benefit of the fruit growers and expedite the works undertaken for the development of the departmental nurseries and achieve the targets well in time.
He directed them to gear up for High-Density Plantation in the current Rainy Season in sub-tropical areas of Jammu Division with special focus on Aloe Vera and Strawberry cultivation. Besides, he also reviewed the sale of fruit plants and value-added products in the facilitation centres across Jammu Division and directed the Chief Horticulture Officers to make them fully functional.
