DDC Kupwara inspects ongoing developmental works, Fixes timelines for completion

Kupwara: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir Tuesday visited various areas of the district to take stock of ongoing developmental works. He was accompanied by concerned officers and engineers.
During the visit, the DDC inspected the ongoing construction of Polytechnic College Karihama. He was informed that the estimated cost of the building is Rs.1935.89 lakh. He was further informed that the main building comprises of 5 blocks interconnected to each other, workshop block, compound walling, internal roads and main gate.
He also interacted with cricket players at Karihama sports ground and appreciated the efforts of organizers for holding a magnificent T20 tournament.
The DDC directed the executing agencies to carry out multiple activities for speeding up the construction work to make available one Block by 15th June. DGM JKPCC was directed to adhere to quality parameters during execution of work and significantly improve workmanship.
Khalid Jahangir visited Kralpora and inspected ongoing work of Degree College Kralpora, costing Rs.1386 lakh. He was informed that the value of work done by now is Rs.190 lakh. DGM JKPCC was directed to employ additional manpower on the project to accelerate pace of work. He was also given timeline to complete the College building by the end of December 2022.
He also visited Womens’ Degree College Salkoot and inspected various blocks including Administrative block, Library, Lecture Halls and other sections of the college. He was informed that Rs.10.30 crore expenditure have been incurred on the construction of the college so far.
The DDC enquired about the present status of the building and was informed that the work has been stopped due to the non-availability of funds.
The DDC directed for taking up the matter with the concerned authorities. Besides, DGM JKPCC was also asked to conduct minor repairs and plug leakages in view of the forthcoming visit of NAAC team.
