DDC Kupwara directs engineers to complete all ongoing works in speedy manner, without delays

Progress of R&B, PMGSY, JJM, JKPCC reviewed

Kupwara: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir Tuesday stressed upon the engineers to work with added dedication and ensure completion of all ongoing projects as the Kupwara district being hilly in nature has a very limited working season especially in remote and border areas.
The DDC was addressing a meeting of engineers of PMGSY, R&B, Jal Shakti and JKPCC convened here Tuesday to review the progress of major infrastructural projects under these departments.
The DDC reviewed all sectors and projects one by one and received present status and feedback from the concerned engineers. He directed them to work with promptness and honesty to ensure completion of all ongoing works.
He said there is no dearth of funds in centrally sponsored schemes including PMGSY and Jal Shakti adding that the officers need to be proactive and prompt to chase the targets within the stipulated timeframe.
He directed the concerned engineers to take special efforts for completion of those projects on which foundation stone has been laid by the Prime Minister and submit the periodical status of the progress to his office.
Reviewing the blacktopping of roads, the DDC directed engineers of R&B and PMGSY to increase the length of macadamized roads. He was informed that under PMGSY phase Ist and 2nd, 571 km road length has been completed so far while as, 36 km road length shall be done this year.
The DDC directed them to complete the macadamization of these 36 kms by July 2022. He was further informed that under phase 3rd, 20 roads costing Rs.134 crore have been submitted to the government. He was further informed that 5 new roads shall be taken up in the district very soon for which technical and other required administrative approval have been received by the concerned department.
The DDC directed them to start work on these 5 roads by the end of this month.
The meeting was informed that under CRF, 5 road schemes comprising 85 kms length have already been taken up, of which 3 roads comprising 53 kms have already been completed while as, 32 kms shall be completed this year.
Under NABARD, 17 road projects comprising of 96.35 kms have been taken up of which 34.10 kms have been achieved so far.
Under Cities and Towns programme, 24 new projects costing Rs.578 lakh have been taken up in hand which are under progress.
Reviewing the progress of construction of buildings, the DDC was informed that 6 buildings are under execution of which 2 buildings are nearing completion while as 4 are on different stages of execution.
The DDC was also informed that under ULB scheme, 5 works including a shopping complex, marriage hall, slaughterhouse, children’s park and open air gym and works under beautification of Kupwara town shall be taken up in hand during the current financial year. He was also informed that 5 old bridges at Warnow, Kralpora, Khumriyal, Cheepora and AstanButhoo have been recommended/projected for accord of approval.
Reviewing the progress of Handwara division, the DDC was informed that out of 72 km road length, 30 km have been blacktopped and 42 kms shall be black topped this year.
Under NABARD, it was informed that out of 16 road projects taken in hand, 4 have been completed. Rest of the work is going on.
The DDC also took stock of various issues of the departments which were resolved on spot after threadbare discussion.
The DDC also gave on spot directions to the concerned officers to clear the Red Account of PMGSY. He also gave directions for utility shifting to complete the work at Dal Madmadow.
The DDC also took a detailed review of ongoing works under the Jal Shakti sector. He was informed that 93 water supply schemes have been tendered for an amount of Rs.539.56 crore under JalJeevan Mission (JJM) and are to be completed within the current financial year.
As per the guidelines of JJM, it was informed that out of these 93 water supply schemes, 41 have been approved for Handwara PHE Division, 40 for Kupwara division, 10 for Tangdar PHE division and 2 schemes of Ground Water division.
