DC Srinagar reviews progress of major NHAI, PWD projects

DM resolves land acquisition/ alignment/ Utility shifting issues

Srinagar: To review the progress of major developmental projects taken up to overcome traffic congestion and improve road connectivity in district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Tuesday chaired a meeting of officers of concerned departments and executing agencies at Meeting Hall of DC Office, here.
The DC took a detailed review of present status andthe progress of works being executed on part of the Srinagar Ring Road project, Lasjan Grade Separators at NowgamChowk and Bemina Junction, besides proposed site for construction of new High Court Complex at Bemina bypass. He also resolved the issues related to the alignment and land demarcation at a few spots of these projects.
On the occasion, the DC directed the Officers and concerned executing agencies to speed up the pace of works being carried out on the project and complete them within set timelines. He called upon them to ensure all major developmental projects are carried out without any further delay for the larger public interest.
The DC directed the Revenue Officers and concerned Executing agencies to conduct a joint field visit to the sites to ascertain that land acquired for the proposed projects is demarcated properly as per the alignment. He asked them to fix the problem by coming Friday so that the process of work is further accelerated.
The DC said that these projects are of immense public importance and are being strictly monitored by higher authorities for the earliest completion. He said timely completion of these projects will prove helpful towards overcoming traffic jams and improving road connectivity to ensure smooth plying of traffic on the highway.
The DC stressed upon the officers to work with added zeal and in a coordinated manner so that the bottlenecks, if any, in the projects are removed to start physical work on the ground without any further delay. He also asked the concerned Tehsildars to remain to facilitate the executing agencies in work execution whenever required.
He also instructed NHAI to further gear up men and machinery to expedite the work for timely completion of the prestigious road project.
During the meeting, the DC also took a review of the earmarked land for the proposed site for development of judicial infrastructure at Rakh-i-GundAksha. He also inspected the plan and layout of the new High Court Complex.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning officer, Srinagar, Superintendent Engineer, R&B, Collector PWD, Sub Divisional Magistrate West, Custodian Evacuee Property, Kashmir, TehsildarShalteng, Tehsildar, Panthchowk, Project Director NHAI, besides representatives of other concerned executing agencies.
