2 arrested for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, 2 vehicles seized in B’gam: Police

B’gam: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two persons and also seized a vehicle (Dumper) and one JCB for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in budgam.
According to a police statement, Police party of PS Beerwah during patrolling at Punchgund Beerwah arrested two persons and seized a vehicle (Dumper) and a JCB for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Government land. The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Maqbool Wani son of Mohammad Qasim Wani, Mohammad Younis Malik son of Mohammad Yousuf Malik, both residents of PunchgundBeerwah. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating further that both vehicle and a JCB used in the commission of crime have also been seized, Police in its statement further said that a case vide FIR No.57/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation set into motion.
Police in its above-referred statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and asked people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
