LeT module busted in Bandipora: Police

7 arrested, 6 vehicles seized, arms/ammunition recovered

B’pora : Police on Monday said that it has busted a militant module of LeT militant outfit by arrestin seven militants/militant associates and also recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition from their possession. Police also said 6 vehicles including 04 two-wheelers have also been seized.
In a statement issued on Monday police said that during the course of investigation of cases regarding the recent Bandipora encounters, Bandipora Police along with security forces busted a militant module of LeT militant outfit by arresting an active Pakistani trained militant, 2 hybrid militants and 4 militant associates, stating therein further that Pakistani trained militant has been identified as Arif Ajaz Shehri son of Ajaz Ahmad @Anfall resident of Nadihal, who had went to Pakistan on valid visa in year 2018 through Wagah Border and infiltrated back to this side after obtaining illegal arms training and started actively working with LeT militant outfit in Bandipora.
Stating further that the two hybrid militants have been identified as Ajaz Ahmad Reshi son of Ab Majeed resident of Rampora and Shariq Ahmad Lone son of Mohammad Sadiq Lone resident of Gundpora, police in it’s statement further said that the arrested militants were tasked to carry out attacks on Police/SF and other soft targets particularly in the Bandipora district.
Police further said that the four arrested militant associates including a female have been identified as Sheema Shafi Waza daughter of Mohammad Shafi resident of Tawheedabad Baghas Riyaz Ahmad Mir @MethaShehri son of Gh Mohammad Mir resident of Plan Bandipora, Gh Mohammad Waza @Gul Bab son of Gh QadirWaza resident of Tawheedabad Bagh, Maqsood Ahmad Malik son of Mohammad Jamal Malik resident of ChittibandyAragam.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested militant associates were involved in harbouring militants, providing logistics/material support including transportation of militant in the Bandipora district”, reads the police statement, adding that “ the arrested female militants associate was also involved in providing Wi-Fi hotspot, accommodation and ferrying militants in town of Bandipora””.
Police furthermore said that incriminating materials, arms ammunition including 02 Pistols, 03 Pistol Magazine, 25 Pistol rounds, 03 Hand Grenades were recovered from their possession and 01 Ecco Van bearing registration no. JK15A-1528 which was being used in ferrying of militants from Bandipora to Nowgam, PanthaChowk and Srinagar was also seized, stating therein further that moreover, 03 Scooties were also seized which were being used for doing recce of Police, security establishments, monitor movement of security forces and ferrying of militants in Bandipora areas and 01 Maruti-800 Car and 01 Pulsar Bike were also seized. Police in its statement further said that Cases under the relevant sections of law have been registered and further investigation is going on.
