GDC Tral organises Inter -College On- the-Spot Essay-Writing Competition

Pulwama : The Department of English Language and Literature of GDC Tral organized an Inter-Collegiate On- the- Spot Essay-Writing Competition on the 14th of May 2022 on the theme “IN THE FAST CHANGING TECHNOLOGICAL WORLD, HOW DO YOU VISUALISE EDUCATION AND EMPLOYABILITY IN 2050?” in which various colleges of South Kashmir participated.

The program commenced with a brief introduction by Prof.Tariq Ahmad Najar which was followed by the Welcome address delivered by Prof. Ishaq Ahmad Wani, Head Department of English Language and Literature.

He, in his overwhelming address, welcomed everyone, especially the participants from various colleges. The audience was given a brief overview of the Department. Prof Bashir Ahmad Shah, Head Department of Political Science, who was the Guest of Honour on the occasion, delivered the Keynote address in which he deliberated upon the importance of organizing such programmes to hone the writing skills of the students and also appreciated and reiterated the role of the Department of English Language & Literature of the college for developing important skills of language.

Before the beginning of the Essay-writing session, instructions related to it were imparted by Dr.Hilal Ahmad Wani, the Coordinator of the program.

The Essays were evaluated by a panel of three examiners who adjudged Syed Atoofa Andrabi of GDC Boys Pulwama, Iqra Showkat of GDC Tral, and Ishrat Jan of GDC for Women Pulwama as Ist, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

In the feedback session, the faculty members and students from various colleges appreciated the efforts of the Department of English Language and Literature for choosing such a kind of relevant topic that not only gauged the writing skills of the participants but also acquainted them with the latest terminology related to robotics, artificial intelligence and machine learning that seem to be trends in the future. The program was attended by sixty students and faculty members. The whole program was organised under the guidance of the worthy Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr) Muhammad Farooq Mir.
The logistic support was provided by Prof.Mohd Syed Lone, Dr Yasmeena Jan and Dr. Aabaan.The program was moderated by Prof Tariq Ahmad Najar and Prof.Syeda Laila Khalid and Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Dar.
