Lathi-charge on peaceful procession of Kashmiri pandits unwarranted: Hakeem

Says Killings of civilians , soft targets by unidentified gunmen a deplorable , barbaric act”

Srinagar : Chairman People’s Democratic Front( PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen while strongly condemning killing of civilians including Rahul Bhat, a revenue department employee , by un identified gunmen ,has equally condemned use of teargas shells and lathi-charge against kashmiri pandits members who were protesting and voicing their concern over the killing of thier colleague .
In a statement issued on Saturday , Hakeem has urged the government to immediately identify the killers of Rahul Bhat and punish the guilty as per the rule of law so as to install sense of security and safety among the minority community in kashmir .He said killing of Rahul Bhat has send shock waves wave among the peace loving people of Kashmir adding that no stone should be left unturned to create a congenial atmosphere to enable people including minorities ,live a peaceful life without any threat and insecurity to their lives .
PDF Chairman has observed that people including members of the kashmiri pandit community have evey right to raise their voice against the violence and killing of their members adding that use of brute force to gog their voice against selective killings was unwarranted . He said every citizen of the country has a constitutional right to express their feelings adding that the procession taken out by the members of aggrieved Kashmiri pandits to give vent to their concern about the selective killing of thier community members was their constitutional right . He has urged the government to take all the possible measures to provide security to the life and property of the common men in Jammu and Kashmir. He has urged for renewd security measures to curb the menace of killings of soft targets and unarmed civilians by the unidentified gunmen .
Hakeem has maintained that that majority of the people of Jammu and Kashmir were peace-loving , secular and compassionate by conviction and were yearning for return of peace and congenial security atmosphere to live a peaceful life with dignity and honour . He has made a fervent appeal to the Prime Minister, Narindra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to initiate a process of reconciliation and goodwill to enable people of Kashmir live a peaceful and dignified life . “There was a dire need for confidence building measures to remove prevailing alienation among the people by redressing thier grievances with regard to their socio-political aspirations,” Hakeem added.
