Srinagar : A grand Sufi Mehfil e Sama was Saturday held in remembrance of great Kashmiri sufi poet and writer of mystical “Sheshrang” at public park GhasiMohalla, Dana MazarSafaKadal.
On the occasion, Cultural Unit Srinagar, DIPR in collaboration with FaqeerRehman Dar Memorial Committee organised the function in which thousands of devotees participated.
Meanwhile, people from all communities and religions paid tribute to Sufi Saint Rehman Dar, known for his poetic versesespecially the Sheshrang.
Dar a mystic poet known for his spiritual powers and unique method of transforming thoughts into poetry in a unique way, is known by people for his ideologies of brotherhood.
He believed in unity, peace and brotherhood.
On the occasion, renowned Sufi Singers of Kashmir including Ghulam Ahmad Sofi (Kachroo), Mohammed Rafiq, GhaffarKanihami, Nazir Ahmad Dar, Mohammed Ayub and others presented sufikalaam of FaqeerRehman Dar which were highly applauded by the audience.
Chairman Rehman Dar Memorial Committee, Abdul Majeed Sheikh and some sufi personalities were honoured on the occasion while as certificates of honour were presented to the participating Sufi folk artists.
Visitors were warmly welcomed and hosted by the committee members including president RDMC, Ghulam Hassan Wani, Akhter Hussain, Master Noor din, Mushtaq Ahmad, Din Mohammad Shah and Mushtaq Ahmad.
Some prominent personalities including Programme Producer Cultural Unit DIPR, Hilal Ahmad Mattoo were also present on the occasion.
