Bhaderwa : To discuss the measures for effective waste management, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhadarwah, ChDil Mir Thursdaychaired a meeting of stakeholder departments and civil society members.
Threadbare discussion was held on the responsibility of civic authorities and other enforcement agencies regarding the collection, segregation and scientific disposal of waste. The Civic authorities were asked to further improve door to door collection and keep check on the use of banned plastic material and disposal of waste by chicken and mutton sellers into water bodies.
The Civic body was asked to enforce the use of the slaughter House and take strict action against those found violating the norms.
“The waste material of chicken shops is being thrown in the open and into the water bodies which has resulted in contamination of natural springs “, the civil society members complained and sought strict action in this regard.
The meeting decided to constitute a Committee to suggest measures for effective management of the waste. “The Municipal Committee should make sure that the slaughterhouse was used by the mutton sellers and they should not be allowed to throw waste and garbage into water streams” the ADC directed.
The ADC also appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration in making the environment clean and health-friendly. He requested the people not to dump wastes into the drains or open areas and avoid the use of plastic items, particularly polythene bags, which was a major threat to the environment.
The meeting was attended by CEO BDA, CO 4RR, TehsildarBhadarwah, Principal GDC, CDPO, AEEs PHE, PMGSY, HDO, Asstt. Professor University Campus, TSO Bhadarwah and Bhalra, representatives of various other departments, NGOs and civil society members.
