DPO/ADC B’pora reviews functioning of OSC, Mahila Shakti Kendra

B’pora|May, 12: The District Programme Officer ICDS who is also Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak Thursday chaired a meeting of officers to review the functioning of One Stop Centre (OSC) and Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK).
The ADC took a detailed review of the functioning of these two centres aimed at assisting women and lending a helping hand to women in distress.
He said One-Stop Centre- Sakhi is aimed at providing an array of services, from skill development to psychological assistance to violence affected women under one roof.
He said the centre is exclusively for the women and is being run by the female staff and is serving women affected by violence, in private or at public places, within the family, community or at workplace.
Officials informed the centre is having representatives from health, Education, administration, Police besides the resources persons from various departments who will assist the aggrieved womenfolk.
They said the centre will also provide awareness about various women-specific schemes besides skill development initiatives and other activities.
OSC officials informed that OSC registered 181 cases till date out of which 140 have been resolved while 27 cases are under process. Meeting was informed that 14 cases are under trial in Bandipora court while four FIRs have also been registered.
Meeting was further informed that the centre conducted 67 awareness programmes across the district regarding sensitization of women towards their rights besides holding 10 orientations cum sensitization programmes.
Regarding MSK, ADC Bandipora said MSK was started with the sole aim to facilitate the women of the region. He said the Government has come up with many schemes to help women to accomplish education, employment and self-reliance and for this purpose MSK has conducted dozens of awareness campaigns across the district.
“The idea behind the scheme is to create an environment for women/ girls to grow and achieve new milestones in every possible sector”, he added.
Meeting was informed that MSK played a vital role in listening to the grievances of women across the board and helped them with necessary remedies available be it guidance to start new units, education loans, resolving marital disputes , awareness campaigns about BetiBachhoBetoPadhao , hygiene, pregnancy and so on.
On the occasion, the ADC stressed upon all stakeholders to work in coordination for the successful functioning of the Centre. He assured of every kind of possible assistance for making these Centres more effective and vibrant.
Hakak asked the concerned to frame a calendar of activities and aware public of various women centric laws and regulations.
The meeting was attended by centre Administrator OSC, IshratAyoub IT personnel OSC Shahida Bashir besides other senior officials of OSC and MSK.
