4 drug peddler’s held in Handwara, Awantipora: Police

Handwara, Awantipora : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Handwara & Awantipora and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Thursday police said that in Handwara, a police party of Police Station Kralgund at a checkpoint established at Rasripora intercepted three persons in suspicious condition and upon checking around 306 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from their possession, stating therein further that the accused have been identified as Asif Rasool Khan son of GhRasool Khan, Arif Ahmad Najar son of Ab Aziz both residents of BeigporaKralgund and Muzafar Ahmad Bhat son of Reyaz Ahmad resident of Kralgund.
Stating further that in another action in Awantipora, officers from Police Post Reshipora intercepted one person at Liddermud crossing Awantipora who was moving in a suspicious condition, police in it’s statement said that one of the suspects was identified as Farooq Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Salam Lone resident of Kulpora Pulwama and during checking, officers recovered 1kg of Charas like substance from his possession, stating therein further that the said accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.
Police in its statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation initiated. In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
