5-day Capacity Building Program on FLN under NIPUN commences at DIET Kishtwar

Kishtwar : District Institute for Education & Training (DIET) Kishtwar Tuesday launched a five day Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) under NIPUN Bharat Mission. Around 250 teachers of five educational zones of Kishtwar, Nagsena, Padder, Drabshalla and Inderwal are participating in the Capacity Building Programme.
Thirty five (35) Resource persons including DIET faculty members have been deployed in all the five zones to impart training at different venues.
The Programme aims to develop in-depth understanding of the basic concepts of FLN among the teachers and to make them realize the importance of attaining foundational literacy and numeracy before entering grade-3. The main focus was to equip primary level teachers with the pedagogical skills and modern practices of teaching at the foundational stage.
Head of Departments (HODs) of DIET Kishtwar along with other senior officers, officials participated and encouraged the trainees to imbibe the modern day teaching skills.
The training programme was formally inaugurated by Ashok Kumar, Principal DIET Kishtwar. He impressed upon the participants to update themselves with modern approaches of teaching and change methodology by making the learning process effective and purposeful. He advised them to apply new trends, modules and techniques etc as recommended under the new National Education policy.
“The participants have to acquaint themselves with the concepts of FLN and strive hard to attain the goal of foundational literacy and Numeracy and also reduce the dropout rate and improve transition rate from primary to upper primary and secondary stages and for that an activity based and conducive learning environment requires to be developed which will improve the quality of education among children,” he further said.
Besides Principal DIET Kishtwar, HODs, In-charge Training, programme, coordinators encouraged Resource persons to deliver the best to participants so that the same may be implemented in the field.
