Journey of dev during pandemic periods in J&K

Infrastructure by all standards of understandabilities boosts development and is a strong source of attraction for investments for industrial development in Jammu Kashmir. So experts agreeing or disagreeing with the claims of the government doesn’t matter but what matters is the situation on ground. Since hassle free road and train connectivity would be in itself an unprecedented achievement for the incumbent Jammu & Kashmir Government under the leadership of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, the reports about the likely completion of both the Jammu-Srinagar highway and as well as Udhampur-Srinagar train track in short time of few months shows that both the National Highway Authority of India (NHIA) and as well as Iron railways are working overtime to complete both the key projects in the given time without missing any deadlines. Once the new four way Srinagar-Jammu highway and Udhampur train tracks are completed the development of infrastructure for the industrial projects won’t be a Himalayan challenge for any government in Jammu & Kashmir. The hassle free road and train connectivity won’t only boost infrastructural development but it would also ease the transportation of basic essential commodities to Kashmir valley which otherwise remains a pressing issue for the government during peak winter months. People don’t look at the achievements and the targets of the government in execution of infrastructural project but they surely show their concerns over the areas which the government plans to attend in the current financial year. Let people not forget the fact that some of the projects started by previous governments of erstwhile J&K state were either partially complete or were almost abandoned but the incumbent government headed by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has not only completed the incomplete infrastructural projects but has also revived some of the abandoned developmental projects in both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu division.

Since the reducing economic activities consequently reduces the intensity of infrastructural development, the government as such is not to be blamed for any inconsistency in the execution of any developmental project during high intensity pandemic periods either in Kashmir valley or Jammu division. Amid increasing intensity in the frequency of economic activities the frequency in the execution of developmental projects will consequently show improvement in coming few months.

Though providing funds for incomplete or abandoned projects was not that too easy amid pandemic for the government in view of the reduced intensity in the execution of development projects even in most of the states and union territories of the country but the undeniable fact is that even in a scenario of reducing intensity in the execution of developmental projects across the country the Jammu & Kashmir Government found ways to ensure free flow of funds for the execution of some of the key infrastructural projects in time during last two years of Pandemic. Making operational DRDO hospitals both in Kashmir and Jammu and Jammu AIIMS during high intensity pandemic periods was one of the biggest achievements of the incumbent Jammu & Kashmir Government. Had technical issues not arisen the AIIMS at Awantipora would have also been made functional long back.
