Market checking conducted in Samba, penalties imposed on violators

8 traders booked, 6,200 fine imposed

Samba : Under the direct supervision of Deputy Commissioner Samba, a joint market checking team conducted multiple checking and inspection of various establishments in the market and imposed penalties on violators.
In view of upcoming festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, the inspection team comprising of Legal Metrology Department and Food Safety checked different establishments in Bari Brahmana, Vijaypur, Samba and adjoining areas.
The team inspected karyana shops, meat/ chicken shops, vegetable/ fruit shops and sweet shops etc and booked 8 traders and realised compensation of ₹6200 on spot. Also three cases were booked by Food Safety Department due to insanitary conditions.
The administration has appealed traders, shopkeepers to adhere to the government directions and desist from overcharging or selling adulterated food items.
