Srinagar: Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar on Thursday said that 62 militants have been killed so far this year in Kashmir Valley.

In  a tweet, he said 39 of the militants were from Lashker-e-Toiba, 15 from Jash-e-Mohammad , six from Hizb-ul-Muajhideen and  two from Al-Bard.

“Among them, 47 were locals and 15 foreign militants,” said the IGP Kashmir as per GNS.

He said that due to enhanced “human and technical intelligence (besides) focused operations, the surviving rate of (militants) is drastically decreasing”.

“Out of 62 (militants) killed so far in the current year, 32 got neutralised within just three months of their joining (militant) ranks,” he added.

The IGP Kashmir also again reiterates his appeal to all “misguided” youth who have joined militant folds to shun the path of militancy and return to “mainstream”.

“He also appealed to the parents and elders of these (militants) to plead their wards to shun this reckless path of violence,” a police spokesperson quoted him as saying in a statement issued to GNS later.(GNS)
