KVK Ramban organises Kisan Mela under “Kisanki Bhagidari, Prathmikta Hamari”

Ramban : KrishiVigyan Kendra, Ramban organised a mega KissanMela at Dhalwas under the campaign “Kisanki Bhagidari, PrathmiktaHamari.
The programme was held under the aegis of the Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu Dr. J.P. Sharma and supervision of the Director Extension SKUAST-Jammu, KrishiVigyan Kendra, Ramban, Dr. S. K. Gupta.
Councillor, District Development Council, Ramban, Jaghveer Das was the chief guest, while Chairperson, BDC, Batote, Rajeshwar Kumar was the guest of honour on the occasion. Over 300 farmers from different panchayats along with Sarpanchs and Panchs attended the Mela.
Meanwhile, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Horticulture, Fisheries, Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry displayed their technologies and schemes at the exhibition stalls put up in the Kisanmela.
Welcoming the farmers, the Nodal Officer, KVK RambanDr. Raj Kumar Gupta, said that KVK Ramban will work hard for the betterment of the farming community and perform its mandated activities. He assured full cooperation and support from KVK, Ramban to the farmers so that more and more farmers are benefited across the length and breadth of the Ramban district.
He further stated that there is a need to shift the focus from increasing productivity to farmers’ income through adoption of high-value crops, processing, value addition, diversified farming, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, organic vegetable cultivation and fisheries in the district through active involvement of KVK and line departments.
While interacting with the farmers, the DDC Councillor thanked SKUAST-Jammu for establishing KVK at Ramban. He assured all possible supports to KVK Ramban for its establishment and extension activities.
The officials of line departments in their interaction with the farmers informed various schemes being run in the district for the welfare of the farming community and urged the farmers to take the benefit of the schemes for improving their livelihood.
The Sr. Scientist (Agronomy and I/c AICRP Weeds, Dr. B. R. Bajaya, Associate Professor (Plant Pathology), Dr. Sachin Gupta, Associate Professor (Vegetable Science) Dr.Satesh Kumar, and I/c AICRP (Honeybee and Pollinators), Dr Devinder Sharma, delivered expert lecture in their expert field.
Dr. Raj Kumar Gupta extended his gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Director Extension SKUAST-Jammu, Senior Scientist, Pwan Kumar Sharma, Headmaster High School, Dalwas, Vijay Sagar andall the farmers, officers from line Department, scientists from SKUAST-J, media personnel, and others for active participation in the mela.
Later, a cultural programme was also presented by local cultural troupes and school children for promoting scientific farming among the farmers.
The progressive farmers were also awarded during the programme. A painting competition was also organized and the students were awarded with prizes during the event. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Sachin Gupta.
