Ramban admin conducts massive market checking drive

Rs 12500 fine recovered from erring traders

Ramban|April, 26: In view of ongoing Holy Ramadan & forthcoming festivals, the Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, along with other enforcement agencies, Tuesday conducted a massive market checking drive here across the district.

The teams headed by Assistant Director FCS&CA RambanShoaibLatif and  concerned Tehsildars inspected markets  in their jurisdictions and booked several erring shopkeepers found failing to maintain the quality of food items, not displaying rate lists of essential commodities, selling expiry products besides indulging in practices of illegal profiteering and sale of underweight products.

A joint team comprising   NaibTehsildarChanderkote, FCS&CA, Legal Metrology Department and Police carried out a surprise check in Pera, Chanderkote areas, while some other teamsconducted the checking drives from Nashri to Banihal and recovered Rs 12500 as fine from defaulters.

They also destroyedspoilage fruits and vegetables. The shopkeepers, Dabawales and vendors were directed to maintain hygiene and quality of eatables and also ensure display of price list.
