B’la|April, 26: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a fraudster in Baramulla who grabbed ₹50,000 from a lady for release of his son from custody.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said “police in Baramulla received a complaint from a lady who alleged therein that one person namely Mohd Shafi Bhat son of Gh Mohd Bhat resident of Iqbal Colony Old Town Baramulla C/O Pakeeza Textiles Baramulla had taken ₹50000 from complainant for release of his son namely Shabir Ahmad Teli son of Gh Mohd resident of BanglawBagh Baramulla from police custody but he had not helped in any way in releasing her son”.
Stating that the fraudster, according to the complaint had issued fake cheques in favour of the complainant which got bounced thus duped and cheated without any courtesy, Police in it’s statement further said that a case under relevant section of law was registered and investigation was set in to motion, stating therein further that acting swiftly, investigating team arrested the accused person and recovered grabbed money amounting ₹50,000 form his possession.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to be aware of such scams and not to fell prey to fraudsters and report any such suspicious or fraudulent activity as early as possible.
