DIET Banihal hosts 5 Day Capacity Building Prog on Foundational Literacy, Numeracy

Banihal|April, 26: PSTE Wing, DIET Banihal organized a five day Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy under NIPUN Bharat Mission in three Educational zones of District Ramban.
The Capacity Building Programme (CBP) was attended by 140 pre-primary/ primary level teachers of educational zone Batote, Gool and Ramban.
The Programme was aimed to develop in-depth understanding of the basic concepts of FLN among the teachers and to make them realize the importance of attaining foundational literacy and numeracy before entering grade-3. The main focus was to equip primary level teachers with the pedagogical skills and modern practices of teaching at foundational stage.
The CBP was formally inaugurated by Mohammad Khalil Ganie, Principal DIET Banihal. He impressed upon the participants to update themselves with modern approaches of teaching and change methodology accordingly. He asked the teachers to make learning process effective and purposeful by applying new trends and techniques. He said that time has changed and teachers are bound to change their approach accordingly. He asked the participants to acquaint themselves with the concepts of FLN and strive hard to attain the goal of foundational literacy and Numeracy. The focus was laid on to acquaint the participants with the trends, techniques, pedagogical practices and skills of teaching at pre-primary/ primary levels.
During the training, the resource persons encouraged the participants to develop skills to facilitate learners through modern practices so that the skills of reading, writing and number operation can be developed among the learners.
Activities based sessions were organized to develop teaching proficiency and insight as to how the kids learn the basics skills by applying appropriate teaching techniques at foundational stages.
The Resource persons shared valuable experience with the help of PPTs and involved the participants in different learning activities.
District Nodal officer for NEP 2020 and DNO of NIPUN Bharat Mission, M AKatoch briefly highlighted the objectives of organizing CBP on FLN. He asked the participants to change their attitude and develop positive perception as they are the real architects of progressive society. He said that a teacher has to show some concern and shoulder the responsibility of providing and facilitating quality education at foundational stage which is one of the serious concerns of MEL at present. He asked the participants to take care of the psychological needs of the children and treat them accordingly.
Coordinator of the programme Gurmeet Singh appreciated the efforts of the RPs for updating the participants and involving them in different practical based activities. Headmistress GH Batote Bhawana Keiser was also present at the valedictory function at GH Batote.
The CBP programme was also concluded at HSS Gool where Basheer Ahmed Malik, lecturer DIET Banihal asked the participants to apply these learning experiences in their classroom. Principal HSS Gool and ZEO Gool were also present on the concluding day. The CBP was coordinated by ShahnawazGanie and Haroonur Rashid Katoch at HSS Gool and GMS Ramban assisted by NageenaParveen and Yasir Bali respectively.
