DLSA organises awareness prog at GHSS B’pora

B’pora: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora in collaboration with Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School Plan Bandipora Saturday conducted an awareness programme on Prohibition of Child Marriage and Pre-institution Mediation & Settlement at Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School (GHSS) Plan Bandipora.
The programme was organised under the chairmanship of Pr. District & Session Judge Bandipora, Mohammad Ibrahim Wani and the supervision of Secretary DLSA Bandipora along with Principal Govt Girls Hr. Sec School Plan Bandipora.
The programme was attended by Officers/Officials of Govt. Girls Hr. Sec School Plan Bandipora, PLVs, officials of DLSA Bandipora, students and other participants.
During the session, speakers delivered speeches on Pre-Institution Mediation & Settlement and on the evils of child marriage, occurring in large numbers and explained the various laws enacted against child marriage.
On the occasion, it was also addressed that child marriages is a criminal activity under the provisions of the Child Marriage Restraint Act (CMRA).
It was given out that awareness programmes and campaigns will be conducted through the media, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and involving the Panchayats as well as Legal Services Authorities to curb the widespread prevalence of child marriages.
