GDC Kathua hosts Poster Making Competition on ‘World Earth Day’

Kathua : Department of Environmental Sciences in collaboration with Ravi Eco Club, Government Degree College Kathua organised ‘Intra College Poster Making Competition’ to mark ‘World Earth Day’ Friday.
The theme of the competition was ‘Invest in Your Planet’.
As many as 22 Students belonging to different semesters participated in the competition and made impressive posters on the theme. The students highlighted the various initiatives which humans can take to save the planet Earth.
The Competition was organized under the supervision of Principal GDC KathuaProf. Raj Kiran, who was also a chief Guest.
In her address, she appreciated the efforts of the students in highlighting the various environmental issues and suggested solutions thereof through the posters. She further said the climate change is evident and has become a global concern over the last few decades which needs to be addressed immediately.
Prof.RakeshJasrotia was the guest of honour on the occasion.
HOD Environmental Sciences and Convener Ravi Eco Club Dr.Deepshikha Sharma coordinated the whole event. In her address she elaborated the students about the significance of celebrating World Earth day and insisted on instantly adopting innovative ideas for environment conservation otherwise the whole mankind has to face the brunt of Mother Nature.
The 1st prize was bagged by MohitVerma of 3rd Semester while the 2nd and 3rd prize was won by MehakChoudhary of 5th Semester and Kashish Sharma of 1st Semester respectively.
Consolation prizes were also given out to Vanshika and Diksha.
The competition was judged by the jury members Prof. Chemistry Dr.AnupamaAsstt. Prof. Chemistry, Dr.AmbicaAsstt. And HOD Zoology Dr. Surya Pratap.
Prof.Neeru Sharma of Deptt of Environmental Sciences presented the vote of thanks.
The faculty members present on the occasion were Prof.RituBhagat, Dr.Rachna, Prof.Chetna Gupta, Prof.Rupali Nanda, Prof.NishaBhagat and Prof. Monika
