K’gam|April, 21: An apprenticeship mela was Thursday organized by ITI Kulgam in line with celebrations across the country.
The mela was inaugurated by Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Kulgam, Mohammad Afzal Parrey along with the Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat.
Around 500 youth and aspirants along with members from industry participated in the mela for on spot registration on apprenticeship portal.
Addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted various steps being taken by District Administration to optimize and upgrade the skill ecosystem of the district.
The superintendent ITI Kulgam while giving brief background of the apprenticeship scheme stressed about the importance of the scheme for industry linkage and optimum use of industry infrastructure for skilling of youth.
While stressing on ‘Earn while Learn’ part of the scheme for apprentices, he also apprisedhow industry is being benefited by taking apprenticeship schemes in the form of government grants, tax waiver and skilled human capital for future retention.
Later, several pass outs of ITI were felicitated and the Deputy Commissioner distributed job letters to these pass outs who had been placed in different companies during the placement drive.
