Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir administration’ Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission has failed to make its office functional in Srinagar and did not address the issues pertaining to Kashmir based Darbar move employees, leaving general public with unnecessary inconvenience and trouble
A delegation of Kashmir based employees told Kashmir Horizon that Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission was fixed at Jammu by the JK administration and it was required to make its office functional at Srinagar as well but the commission has failed thereby putting Kashmir based employees as well as the general public to unnecessary inconvenience and trouble. They said the commission recently vacated its private accommodation at Srinagar in October 2021 and shifted all records, furniture, etc to Jammu and has now written to the civil secretariat for repatriation of Kashmir based staff to their parent departments instead of making its office functional at Srinagar.
“It is pertinent to mention that as per notification bearing No-s.0 1984(E) Notification dated 18th of June 2020. issued by the central Government, the Headquarters of the commission are required to be located in the same city as that of the office of the Lieutenant Governor of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Which means that the commission has to move its headquarters’ between Jammu and Srinagar,” the delegation said.
The order further stated that the employee shall work at the locations of the Heads of the Department allotted to them as per the orders to be issued by their Administrative Departments. “Administrative Secretaries shall ensure that for a HOD stationed at one location, the next ranked officer is available at the other location,” it said. The order further mentioned that Heads of the Departments shall ensure that they are accessible to the general public at both locations, either physically or virtually. The aggrieved employees urged LG Manoj Sinha to look into the issue so that they will not face any trouble in the future.
