Kishtwar : The Department of Animal Husbandry Kishtwar Monday distributed first lot of Low input Technology (LIT) Chabro Birds among the Poultry Farmers of far-flung areas of Block Drabshalla and Dachhan meeting the demand projected by District Development Council Members and PRIs of Drabshalla and Dachhan Blocks.
The Chabro breed of chicken is Low input Technology dual purpose breed used for meatas well as Laying purpose (egg Laying) and can be reared as backyard poultry having very efficient feed conversion ratio and suitable for prevailing climatic conditions of Kishtwar district.
The Public Representatives appreciated the efforts put forth by the Department for uplifting the socio-economic status of the public and assured to extend full cooperation to the Department for realizing the benefits extended under different schemes. They appealed to the Department to distribute the birds in all uncovered areas for increasing the production and doubling farmers’ income.
