Sopore : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Sopore and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that officers from Police Post Watergam and PC Rafiabad under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad Ameen Bhat at a checkpoint established at Hadipora crossing intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01N-6987 with three persons on board.
Stating that upon checking 42 grams of heroin were recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Zahid Ahmad Rather son of GhulamNabi Rather, Riyaz Ahmad Rather son of Muhammad Shafi both the residents of Nasrulapora Budgam and Manzoor Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Qadir Ganie resident of Behrampora Rafiabad, police in it’s statement further said that the said accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, stating therein further that the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Police in its statement further said that a case under relevant sections of the law stands registered in Police Station Dangiwacha and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
