B’la|April, 16: As part of ongoing Gram SwarajAbhiyan, multiple activities were carried out Saturday by Rural Development Department Baramulla across the district.
These activities are being organized to celebrate the Iconic Week that shall be observed from 11th of April to 17th April under the ambitious ‘AzadiKaAmritMahotsav’ programme.
According to Assistant Commissioner Development Baramulla, Yar Ali Khan, several activities are being conducted as per the schedule of Panchayat Iconic Week devised under the ambitious ‘AzadikaAmritMahotsav’ programme.
He added that special activities were carried out Saturday across the district wherein emphasis was laid on sanitation drives and bringing awareness about health and family welfare programmes with the motive to make our villages clean and healthy.
Apart from the cleanliness drives, the ACD informed that the department has envisioned undertaking the ambitious mission of water conservation in our villages. He said that a special sanitation drive of water bodies was carried out in which PRIs among other prominent stakeholders showed their overwhelming participation.
He further added that awareness programmes were conducted which aimed to promote water conservation and building water harvesting tanks so that our villages are made self sufficient to meet out water requirements.
The ACD said that special efforts are being taken to make our villages plastic free and in the 1st phase, 120 villages have been identified which shall be subsequently declared as Plastic free villages.
It is worth mentioning here that these activities are being carried out as part of ongoing Gram Swaraj Month being celebrated throughout J&K.
