B’gam :  The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza Saturday said that a holistic development process has been initiated for the development of Soibugh area in the district.

The DC said this while addressing at a Maha Gram Sabha held at Block Soibugh, where PRIs and locals from various Panchayat Blocks raised their issues and demands with him.

The Gram Sabha was informed that Rs. 24 Crores shall be spent on the road developmentincluding macadamization of Soibugh-Hatharan, Narbal-Wadwan and Gairend-Wadwan roads, besides work on almost all interior roads in the Soibugh Block shall be taken up on priority.

It was informed that macadimization of Nasrallahpora­-Mirgund road will be started soon while as entire Soibugh area will be macadamized in two years.

At the outset, the DC said that work on the hospital was completed in phase-I and phase-II was under due consideration and shall be taken up for execution soon.

He instructed concerned to ensure restoration and de-silting of all irrigation canals in the Soibugh block on war footing.He emphasized work process be expedited for timely completion of all developmental projects in the area.

The DC stressed on PRIs and locals to maintain proper sanitation and avoid dumping garbage on roadside, drains, water resources and other open areas in all panchayat blocks and urged them to ensure complete ban on polythene use and single use plastic items.

He urged locals to ensure that no garbage is dumped in Hokersar wetland and stressed that clean wetland will attract tourists visit and open livelihood resources for the locals.

On theoccasion, the DC also inaugurated job card Registration Mela and distributed job cards among the beneficiaries. The Gram sabha was informed that 1.25 lakh Man-days have been sanctioned for Soibugh block and employment target shall be achieved through restoration work of water resources including ponds, streams, canals and establishment of playfields and other related works.

Various officers, including ACD, DSWO, BDO Soibugh, Ex. Engineers including PHE, R&B from different engineering wings spoke anddeliberated about their schemes and programmes on the occasion.

Meanwhile, PRIs, local respectable from Soibugh, Gotipora, Dhaharmunah, Galwanpora, Haran, Wadnan areas and members of local Auqaf committee raised various issues including essential power service Line to Hospital, establishment of Fire Service Station, speedy work on Shareefabad bridge, macadamization of main and interior roads, playgrounds, Irrigation canals restoration, flood control works, improvement in power and water supplies, health and education infrastructure and other demands.

The DC gave them patient hearing and ensured that all their genuine demands shall be taken up for early redressal.

Later, the DC also inaugurated a Panchayat Secretariat at PanchayatHalqaWahabpora and stressed on its fool-proof functioning.

He also visited the site of oil seed cultivation farms at Dhaharmunah, where he interacted with the progressive farmers.

The farmers expressed their gratitude to the District administration and Agriculture Department for providing them seed and other support for the first time double crop cultivation in their farms.
