Kupwara :Police on Saturday said that it has in booked 4 drug peddlers & a notorious thief under the public safety act (PSA) in Kupwara after obtaining necessary sanction from the authorities.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that Police in Kupwara in a series of actions have seized a huge quantity of contraband substances from the possession of four notorious drug peddlers identified as Ashiq Hussain Mir @Ashiq Codeine son of GhulamOaudir Mir resident of Muqam Shahwali Drugmulla, Majid Rehman Khan son of Abdul Rehman Khan resident of Gundsnah Hyhama, Gh Nabi Lone (Naba) son of Ali Mond Lone resident of Sarbal Mohalla Guzriyal Kralpora and Atta Mod Khan @Raja son of Amanullah Khan a resident of Halmatpora Check Kupwara.
Police in its statement further said that the cases were registered at different Police stations and the accused were arrested, adding therein that subsequently, the cases were duly processed and after obtaining sanctions from the concerned authorities, the arrested drug peddlers were detained under Public Safety Act.
Stating further that a notorious thief namely Danish ManzoorZargar @Chota Don son of Manzoor Ahmad Zargar a resident of Tikker Kupwara was on Saturday detained under Public Safety Act by Kupwara Police after obtaining sanctions from the concerned authorities for his unrelenting criminal acts of burglary and theft, police in it’s statement further more said that the said accused was involved in various cases of burglary and theft in the district.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace
