Udhampur : In a colorful function organised by the Department of School Education at ZEO Office, Vice Chairperson DDC Udhampur, JuhiManhasPathania, distributed sports kits among the students of primary and middle schools of the area.
She said a healthy body is a must for a healthy mind and for the all-round development of a student. She further said that efforts should be made to chisel and tap the talent at primary level so that students who have the spark in themselves in various sports are trained for times to come. She was further apprehensive of the increasing lethargy and laziness amongst students. She further said that not to speak of participating in competitions, sportsmen make a full man. Participating in sports teaches innovation, out of box approaches, team spirit, capacity to digest win and accept defeat. The said initiative for giving sports kits to schools would further encourage them to take up sports activities in a big way and will help students to develop confidence,mental alertness and self-esteem.
While addressing the gathering, she highlighted that the scheme aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education at all levels. Under this scheme is Rs.10 lacs. The grant for sports equipment is at the rate of Rs.5000 for primary schools, Rs.10000 for middle schools and Rs.5 lakh for flash cards, chats and puzzle books.During the programme 12 chats and 10 puzzle books were distributed to each school. She appealed to the gathering to make maximum utilization of sports equipment and educational Aid.
Zonal educational officer Majalta as well as field functionaries of various departments remained present. Kamla Devi Sarpanch, Tirath Ram Panch, RajinderParshad and prominent people were also present.
Ramban: Indian Army organises volleyball match
Ramban: Indian Army organised a friendly volleyball match between local teams at Neel Top Friday. 20 youth from remote areas of the district participated in it.
According to the organisers, aim of the event was to increase sports activities in far flung areas and to promote sportsmanship among the youth.
Enthusiastic local crowd had gathered to cheer up their favourite teams which also expressed desire for such events in future.
The winning team was later felicitated with a trophy and medals.
