Drug peddler held in Sopore, contraband substance recovered: Police

Sopore : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and also recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that officers from Police Post Watergam and PC Rafiabad under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad Ameen Bhat at a checkpoint established at Hadipora crossing intercepted one person roaming in a suspicious manner and upon checking recovered from him seven grams of Heroin like substance following which he was identified as Sajad Ahmad Lone son of Farooq Ahmad Lone resident of Lorihama Rafiabad.
Stating that the said accused has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 38/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Dangiwacha and investigation set into motion.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
