Mega Block Diwas, Gram Sabhas held across Kupwara distt

Mass public participation in Gram Sabhas strength of PR System: DC Kupwara

Kupwara : In continuation to the celebration of Gram SwarajAbhiyan, District Administration Kupwara Wednesday conducted special Mega Block Diwas/ Gram Sabhas at SogamLolab and TarathporaVilgam.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din chaired the block diwas at Sogam. BDC Chairperson, PRIs and concerned officers and a large number of public participated in the programme.
Addressing the people, the DC said that the mass participation in Gram Sabhas shows the strength of Panchayati Raj System which is a good omen for the larger development of rural people. He said the Government has declared April as Gram SwarajAbhiyan month with an aim to strengthen the Panchayati Raj institutions to realise the vision of Gram Swarajviz a viz democratic decentralization and saturation of 100 points programme targeted by the Government.
On the occasion, DC and the officers present in the Gram Sabha replied to the queries raised by the PRIs and the people.
Encouraging the general masses, the DC informed people that time has gone when administration were making plans for the welfare of the people adding that it is now the public who by means of Janbhagidari, propose developmental plans themselves for their development.
The mega block diwas/ Gram sabha was held at TarathporaVilgam under the chairmanship of ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir where BDC Chairperson, PRIs, officers and people in large numbers participated in the programme.
The PRIs projected various issues of day to day nature which the ADC Handwara heard patiently and resolved various issues on spot.
Meanwhile, as part of iconic week celebration, Gram Sabhas were held in 72 panchayats of block Nutnussa, Mawar, Drugmulla, Kupwara, Kalaroose, Handwara, Kralpora, Trehgam, Machill, Sogam, Ramhal, Tarathpora, Wavoora, Langate, Magam, Rajwar, Keran, ReddiChowkibal, HirriQadirabad, Meelyal, Hyhama, Tangdar, Qaziabad and Teetwal.
The Gram Sabhas were conducted under the supervision of officers and field functionaries of Rural Development in which PRIs, frontline workers, local youth and public in large participated and discussed various issues of Rural development including cleanliness, sanitation, better education, good health facilities, augmentation of power and water supply and other developmental issues as per Government’s 100 point programme.
