FCS&CA Kashmir recovers Rs 2 lac fine from erring Shopkeepers during Ramadan

33 Shops sealed , 3 FIR’s lodged

Srinagar : The Enforcement squad of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Kashmir Wednesday sealed three establishments during market checking at LalChowk, Ali Kadal and Rawalpora in Srinagar for violation of the Essential Commodities Act.
As per an official handout, it was informed that the enforcement team of the department has also recovered more than two lac rupees fine from the traders during the month of Ramadan and in all 33 shops sealed which include Mutton shops, Chicken shops, vegetable and Bakery shops who were selling the items at very high rates other than fixed by the government. Besides three FIRs were lodged against the violators
The market checking drives has been started following complaints pouring in from different sections of the society regarding illegal enhancement of rates by the shopkeepers dealing with different consumable items.
The Assistant Director Enforcement, Kashmir further reiterated that the drive will continue and strict action under law shall follow against the violators.
