Rajouri : The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Tuesday conducted Table Talk Exercise (TTEx) on earthquake and other disaster here under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner VikasKundal, who is also the Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority Rajouri.
Assistant Commandant, NDRF, Javid Ahmed gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the structure and role of NDRF in India, its abilities, and the list of machines used for dealing with all types of natural and man-made disasters.
He also stressed the need for coordination among the stakeholders during a disaster to reduce response time for rescue measures.
He further informed that Jammu is located under level IV and V earthquake seismic zones.
All the officers presented in the meeting discussed and responded to the queries developed by the NDRF team.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC complimented the efforts of the NDRF teams during the rescue operations and asked them to keep working with the same zeal to save public life and property.
Saying that effective measures are necessary for prevention as well as mitigation of disaster, he maintained that a prompt and effective response towards disasters is required to prevent the loss of public life and property.
He said that the disaster has no calendar so ‘we have to stay prepared at all times to meet any eventuality.’
During the meeting, the DC directed the SE PWD, EXN PMGSY and other executing agencies to prepare a database about the number of bridges, roads and buildings in their jurisdiction.
He also said that the PWD and PMGSY authorities should also submit data about the number of habitations accessed through a single road.
He further directed to conduct a quality audit of the roads; bridges and Buildings in the district.
