KVK B’pora organizes Animal Health Camp at Kudara

Bandipora : The KrishiVigyan Kendra (KVK) Bandipora Tuesday organized a special Animal Health Camp for tribal farmers of village Kudara to assess nutrition and health issues of livestock in the hilly area.
Addressing the gathering of farmers, the Director Extension SKUAST Kashmir, Prof.Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi stressed upon the need of sustainably using existing natural resources through crop and livestock production systems to achieve long term higher productivity and farm income under climate vulnerabilities and to adapt appropriate mitigation technologies to overcome climate stress.
He said that the basic objectives of conducting the camp was to gain an understanding of the general livestock health status, management practices and prevalent diseases/problems in the area, so that livestock related intervention could be taken up systematically.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Maroof Ahmad Shah, Deputy Director Sheep Husbandry stressed on the need of organizing such camps on a regular basis in remote areas where livelihood is primarily dependent on livestock.
Dr. Tariq Sultan, Scientist KVK Bandipora highlighted the role of KrishiVigyan Kendra in disseminating the latest technologies in remote and hilly areas of the district.
Dr Tahir Saleem, Dr Hilal Ahmad Malik Subject Matter Specialists of KVK Bandipora and Dr Henna Wani Senior Research Fellow NICRA Project were also present.
Later, veterinary medicines including anthelmintics, multi-mineral supplements etc were distributed free among 65 farmers and farm women of the village.
