Distt Devt Council Ang reviews dev works of Jal Shakti, I&FC

Anantnag : The District Development Council (DDC) Anantnag, presided over by Chairman MY Gorsi Tuesday held a review of the development works of Jal Shakti, Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) departments at Dak Bungalow Khanabal here.
At the outset, the Chairman emphasized the essentiality of works being taken up by the three departments. He said that the works in these areas directly affect the public and form an important component of public service delivery.
Reviewing the works of Jal Shakti department, he said that the flagship JalJeevan Mission must be completed within stipulated timeframe. Various DDC members put forth issues in their constituency. SE Jal Shakti assured the members that various water supply schemes under progress will be completed soon and all issues shall be addressed on priority.
The officials from Irrigation and Flood control put forth their works programme. The Chairman said that the department has to ensure that water is available for irrigation particularly in sowing seasons. He appreciated the department for issuing advisories in advance before maintenance of canals is taken up to reduce inconvenience to people.
A detailed deliberation was also held on various flood protection works being taken up. Issues related to desilting of Nandi canal, KhudwaniDogji canal and Dadi canal, commissioning of LIS Rakhibrah, flood protection works for Sandran, Hapatnard, Khayar, Lidder, Kanganhall, Brisno, Addpora, and Hiller were taken up.
ADDC while speaking on the occasion emphasised upon the officers to take PRIs on board while making the DPRs and works programmes. He said best results can be achieved through cooperation among departments and the public representatives.
The meeting was attended by DDC members, ADDC, SE Hydraulic, BDC chairpersons, Executive Engineers otJal Shakti Bijbehara and Qazigund, Executive Engineer Irrigation, Executive Engineer Flood Control Anantnag, ACP, A.E.Es etc.
