Debates & Seminars on ‘Plastic Free Shopian’ organized in all educational institutions of Shopian

Shopian : On the directions of the Chief Education Officer, Debates and Seminars were organized in all the educational institutions of the district Shopian under the theme ‘Plastic Free Shopian’.
The motivation for organizing this programme was to highlight the harmful effects of plastic.
The students highlighted the threat of plastic for the environment. The ill effects of plastic on soil was brought into the light and students pointed out that plastic is a non-reusable product and its uncontrolled use can barren the land in future.
The impact of plastic on wild life and sea life was also put on the anvil by teachers and students.
Apart from the students, many teachers also put forth their views about the effects of plastic on the environment.
Short rallies were organized to make the general masses aware about the use of plastic and its adverse effect on the environment.
The grand programmes were organised at Govt BHSS Shopian, GHSS Shopian, HSS Kaprian, New Greenland School, HS Kumdalan, BMS Kellar etc.
The main function of the programme was held at Govt. HSS Narpora in which Principal Govt. HSS Narpora, Javiad Ahmad Khan flagged off a rally of students from Govt HSS Narpora Shopian carrying hoardings for mass awareness about harmful effects of plastic.
The Chief Education Officer extended the word of thanks to all the participating schools with a note to avoid the use of plastic to save the crest of mother earth from it. He said if we do not control the use of the plastic, the day will be no far when earth will produce nothing and the existence of life on it will be impossible.
