DC attends Gram Sabhas; PRIS & people also attend in large nos

Amid dry, hot and humid weather, hundreds of people including men, women and children mostly bare foot visited the revered suffi Saint Shrine Sheikh Noor-Ud-Wali popularly known as Nund Resh at Charar-e- Sharief in Budgam district on Sunday for prayers to seek rainfall to end the drought season in Kashmir valley. Kupwara : The Second phase of a month-long ‘Gram SwarajAbhiyan’ was started across district Kupwara Tuesday. Various activities with special focus on 100 points Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), issued by LG Administration, were carried out during the special Gram Sabhas.
Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Imam Din himself attended Gram Sabhas at Mandi, Monabal and Bakiaker in the Handwara subdivision wherein DDC Members, BDC Chairpersons and large number of people participated.
Addressing public, the DC said that the month of April is being observed as Gram Swaraj Month with an aim to strengthen the Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) so as to realize the vision of Gram Swarajviz-a-viz democratic decentralization and saturation of 100 points programme targeted by the Government.
The Assistant Commissioner Development, Mehraj-u-din also participated in various Gram Sabhasand inspected works under PMAY,Panchayatghars and other rural development works in block Trehgam and Qadirabad, as part of Abiyan.
The GramSabhas were also conducted in Nutnussa, Mawar, Drugmulla, Kupwara, Handwara, Kalaroose, Kralpora, Trehgam, Machil, Sogam,Ramhal,Taratpora, Wavoora, Langate, Magam, Rajwar, Keran, RediChowkibal, HeriQadirabad, Meelyal, Hyhama, Tangdar, Qaziabad and Teetwal blocks of the district.
The Gram Sabhas were conducted under the supervision of District Administration Kupwara, in which functionaries of Rural Development Department, PRIs, frontline workers, local youth, besides, public participated and discussed various issues of rural development including cleanliness, sanitation, augmentation of water supply, good health facilities, better education and other developmental issues as per Government’s 100 point programme.
