Kulgam : The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Kulgam Monday revealed that the department has collected overall revenue of Rs. 1.40 crore during FY 2021-22 in the district.
It was informed that the department has imposed a fine of Rs 23.50 lakh on the traffic violators alone during extensive checking on different routes of the district within the said period.
These checking drives were carried out by the teams of MVD Kulgam, said the ARTO.
He added that the violators were fined for overloading, driving without seat belts and crash helmets, using pressure horns, wrong lane driving and plying of vehicles in contravention of Registration Certificates and route permits. Vehicles were also challaned for plying without (HSRP) High Security Registration Plates and other violation of rules.
It was also revealed by the ARTO that the department in the district registered 3740 fresh vehicles and has issued 75 fresh route permits whereas the office has also issued 805 fresh fitness certificates and 1270 fresh driving licenses.
The office has also made 2463 renewal of fitness certificates of commercial vehicles both in passenger and goods category added ARTO.
The office has also organized several road safety programmes in schools and colleges and also organizes free medical check-ups for drivers.
